Management Accountant

In this Management Accountant role based in Feilding, you will help shape the financial services at the Council by partnering with managers across the organisation to assist with the Long Term Plan, the Annual Plan and Annual Report.

Areas of responsibility: 

  • Lead the preparation of end of year financial and annual reports
  • Coordinate and collate budgetary information for inclusion in Annual Plans
  • Provide financial advice and support to managers and internal staff
  • Produce monthly management accounts
  • Attend and contribute to management and team meetings
  • Maintain general and job cost ledgers through reconciliation of accounts
  • If you have an interest in systems accounting, there is an opportunity to explore this field further

  Skills, experience and personal attributes we are looking for: 

  • CA or AT qualified desirable but not essential
  • Several years working as an Accountant
  • Produce accurate management and financial reporting
  • Skilled in analysis, problem-solving and have the ability to see the big picture
  • Effective communicator, both written and verbal
  • Manage time, prioritise, and work effectively with professionalism
  • Highly capable, level-headed, adaptable and has a sense of fun
  • Someone who will work collaboratively, roll up their sleeves and support the Finance team to achieve outcomes
  • Takes ownership, builds trust and always strives for excellence
  • Experience in local government is desirable but not essential
