We’re working with a job seeker who has four job offers on the table. This individual came to our attention only recently, and the multiple offers came within five working days.
The job market in the Manawatu and across NZ is moving at pace. As an employer you need to be positioned to move quickly through all steps of your recruitment process to attract, verify and confirm your top applicant.
With PN Personnel by your side, your odds are greatly increased to secure your preferred applicant working together through the recruitment process.
The five steps for successful recruitment at speed are:
1. Communication
2. Attraction
3. Interview
4. Feedback
5. Offer
1. Communication:
Open lines of communication are critical when we are working at pace. Your Recruitment Specialist will keep you updated every step of the way. We are in constant communication with our job seekers and, knowing where they are with their job search allows us to advise you on any time-sensitive decisions. To secure preferred job applicants, decisions need to be made quickly, therefore availability on your behalf is essential to our success as timelines are constantly revised.
2. Attraction:
Advertising and networking is managed by your Recruitment Specialist. You can assist in the attraction process by ensuring you are clear in your requirements for the vacancy, providing us with an up-to-date job description and any other relevant documentation.
From our initial screenings and shortlisting we will present you with our preferred applicants. Timely feedback from yourself is essential at this stage of the recruitment to progress applicants to interview stage.
3. Interview:
Interviews need to happen as soon as possible. Your Recruitment Specialist will confirm availability of your applicants, you need to confirm the availability of yourself and any other members of the interview panel to set up timely appointments – either in person or online.
If second interviews are required, these also need to happen quickly.
4. Feedback:
Often a sticking point – feedback needs to come directly (or as soon as) following the interview. Ideally the feedback will come with a decision on a preferred applicant(s) for second interview or a job offer. If more time is required for a decision on the applicants, interim feedback is recommended to ensure your preferred candidates remain engaged. At this step communication is critical, so your Recruitment Specialist can effectively manage the applicants’ expectations to ensure your preferred applicants remain motivated towards your vacancy.
5. Offer:
A verbal offer needs to be followed up with written confirmation as soon as possible including their Individual Employment Agreement and other relevant documentation. Once you have chosen your preferred applicant, you want to seal the deal, any time delays mean other employers have the chance to consider and offer. Talented applicants do have more than one job offer on the table.
Your Recruitment Specialist is integral to these discussions, as we can assist in employment negotiations for a mutually beneficial outcome.
Communication
Yes, I’ve repeated communication because I cannot stress enough how timely communication is critical for a successful recruitment process. If we can remain in consistent contact with you throughout the recruitment we can manage any questions or queries from both parties, to minimise any delays.
We’re here to guide you through the process every step of the way, and advocate and promote your organisation to applicants. Our process is streamlined to allow for speed, so fast-track your recruitment and talk to us today.
