Few fish, far too many Fishermen…

Job Advertisements – how to get your catch of the day

Are you an employer who is advertising for staff but not finding the right candidates?

Did you know approximately 80% of all job adverts placed online do not attract the right candidate after 6 weeks of advertising.

Why?

Let’s go back to the fishing to explain. Firstly, you need to fish in the right area, no point dropping a line in a place where the fish are not swimming.

You also need bait on the hook. Sounds simple, but applies to job adverts, there is no point placing an ad through the right channels without something to attract a candidates’ attention.

Thirdly, you need the right type of bait and line to attract the type of fish you want.

An advertisement needs to catch attention – often in the title, draw in the reader (reel them in shall we say) with the opening paragraph and hook them with the bait (what is in it for them).

And this then needs to be fished in the right area to attract the right type of fish.
