Fibreglass Developments Ltd (FDL) has been in business for more than 40 years and offers a full range of services and facilities for its clients. Based in Feilding, Manawatu their factory enables client's projects to be done in one facility - allowing for better project management, control, and continuity throughout. They produce a wide range of products for a large variety of industries throughout New Zealand, and some limited export.

FDL have a requirement for one product line to double its production and another new large product line just starting up, so there is lots of growth to be managed and the future is looking very solid and exciting.

Reporting to the Managing Director, the General Manager will be responsible for overarching strategies, leadership, policies, financial forecasting and budgeting. Excelling in this position demands skilful leadership, assured decision-making, fostering team growth and efficiency, and driving profit growth.

The company is in a great position with a high level of orders and ready to expand further.

Key responsibilities: 

  • Develop and implement comprehensive strategies to drive growth and achieve organisational goals.
  • Foster a culture of effective leadership, confident decision-making, and professional development among the team.
  • Continuously evaluate and enhance operational and financial performance to ensure optimal results and profitability.
  • Establish and enforce policies, processes, and procedures to enhance operational efficiency and consistency.
  • Oversee recruitment and drive employee productivity and growth through effective management, training, and mentorship.
  • Generate regular reports highlighting key performance metrics and strategic insights.
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations, promoting a safe and compliant work environment.
  • Proactively address challenges and come up with pragmatic solutions.
  • Develop new customers and products as opportunities and enquiries arise.

The qualities and skills we're looking for:

  • Proven track record of success as a General Manager or in a similar executive role, demonstrating your ability to drive growth and manage teams effectively, ideally within the Manufacturing Industry.
  • Proficient in strategic planning and budgeting, with a history of resource optimization and achieving financial targets.
  • In-depth understanding of various business processes and functions, including finance, human resources, procurement, and operations, ensuring seamless coordination and efficient operations.
  • A natural problem-solving aptitude, capable of identifying challenges, devising pragmatic solutions, and implementing effective strategies.
  • Strong analytical and excel skills to interpret data, assess performance metrics, and make informed decisions that contribute to the company's success.
  • Outstanding communication and leadership skills that empower you to manage complex projects, guide teams, and inspire success.
  • A disciplined approach to work, developing and encouraging systems for all processes and tasks.
