As the HR Manager for Norgren Australasia, I was remotely recruiting a role in Palmerston North. We used the traditional tools, including engaging a Recruitment Agency outside of Manawatu, and using and

Unfortunately, we found listing these adverts to be time consuming and ultimately unsuccessful in securing the quality applicants we would employ.

We had to try something new and quickly! So I approached a number of Recruitment Agencies, sending them all a job brief by email and a Position Description.

Palmerston North Personnel was the only Recruitment Specialists to contact me with 24 hours. This was to arrange a suitable time to discuss a deep understanding of our situation, and our needs and wants. and even included personally visiting the branch to fully understand the work environment and the team working in it.

Taking the time to understand of our business, the role and the people in our team was the key to successfully placing the right person.


The Results:

Within 1 week Palmerston North Personnel had relaunched our campaign, and then individually assessed and spoke to 44 fresh applicants.
These applicants came from a wide range of sources including fresh advertising on traditional sources, and local referrals from Palmerston North Personnel's networks.

This quickly led to a shortlist and 3 skype interviews – which worked well with me being in Australia and the applicants all being from Palmerston North.

After 2 subsequent Interviews with Norgren's General Manager, and our Auckland based Sales Manager, we successfully hired the preferred person.

Palmerston North Personnel started their recruitment campaign on 20 February and helped us, and our newest employee, to successfully sign an employment contract on 13 March.

Palmerston North Personnel solved our recruitment problem in only 3 weeks!

Overall the attention and follow up from the team was outstanding! Palmerston North Personnel is the only recruiter we will be using in the Manawatu from now on!
